Amy's Scafell Pike Sponsored Walk - 6th August 2011

Update - funds raised:
Amy Hammond completed her challenge in 6.5 hours, raising £447.00. Our
sincere thanks go to Amy, her family, and everyone who sponsored her.
Adventurous Amy Hammond (12) has pledged to walk up Scafell Pike in the Lake District to raise funds and awareness for BADA-UK. Scafell Pike is the highest mountain in England at 978 metres (8,290 ft).
Walking enthusiast Amy was inspired to get involved after meeting Lyme disease sufferer, and Chair of BADA-UK, Wendy Fox at the Bushcraft Show in June this year. After being infected from a tick bite, zoologist Wendy was left visually impaired and paralysed from the waist down after the infection caused a brain and spinal cord swelling.
Amy says, "I love the great outdoors and am aware of ticks but never knew how poorly they could make you if bitten by an infected tick. BADA-UK is my favorite charity and I want to raise funds and awareness for them".
You can also sponsor Amy via your mobile phone. Just text AMYH99 £** to 70070 (just replace the ** with the amount in whole pounds from £1 - £10 that you wish to pledge for Amy).
Please dig deep and help Amy achieve her target for this tough challenge!
